Rahul Ravisundar was the clear winner of the Junior High section at the 2015 Benjamin Scholastic held December 5 in West Chicago. 81 competed in three sections. US Chess crosstables have been posted here.

In the Junior High section, Rahul boosted his rating 67 points to 1115 with four wins in four rounds. A six-way tie for second place at 3.0/4 included top-rated Brenden Gran, Siddhartha Kyaw, Jr., Jacob Horn, Nathan Salahi, Elizabeth Peterson and Sarah Grandy. 

In the five-round Elementary section competition, Benjamin Ick posted the lone perfect 5.0/5 score. His rating jumped 169 points to 723.

A five-way tie for second place at 4.0/5 included Joseph Anderson, Emily Peterson, Zach Popham, Jeffrey Master and Aidan Trapani.

Benjamin earned the championship by beating Emily in the penultimate round and Jeffrey in the final match.

Nathan Wilding had the top score among first-timers with two wins in three rounds played.

In the 21-player Primary section, William Cahill breezed through all five of his matches. He finished a point better than the trio who tied for second place with 4.0/5 which included Cooper Miller, Carter Clark and Luke Osterholm.

William's pre-event rating of 1219 was more than double the next highest rated player in the section. In fact, his rating was the highest of any competitor in all three sections.

Also in the Primary, Micah Wilding and Brody Kimmel played in their first rated event, both winning three and losing two matches. Their 3.0/5 scores tied them for fifth place with four others: Meredith Hedley, (William's sister) Maya Cahill, and brothers Braxton and Braeden Leger.
