2013 Illinois Barber, Denker and Girls Invitational

The stage was set for the Barber, Denker and the Girls Invitational at the North Shore Chess Center February 22 -24. There were 6 players for the Denker and the Girls Invitational and 12 for the Barber. Crosstables

Jonathan Kogen won all five rounds to be the Denker qualifier. Sam Schmakel got runner up honors with 4 points.
Peng and Kogen will be the Illinois representatives for the Barber and Denker championships to be held at the US Open, July 22-August 4th in Madison Wisconsin. They will receive a $500.00 travel stipend to attend.
Reiches will receive a $500 travel stipend to attend a mutually agreed upon national event. Additionally, the first place winner in all three sections will receive $250 towards chess lessons, payable to a mutually agreed upon instructor. The runner-up in each section will receive $250 towards chess lessons, payable to a mutually agreed upon instructor. In the event the Denker or Barber winner can't attend the national event, the runner-up will be named the Illinois representative and will receive the travel stipend to attend the tournament.
