I’m always happy to see new names on the list of Illinois’ top 100 girls. This month, in the ‘Age 7 and Under’ category, Joyce Zheng received her first mention with a rating of 753 and a ranking of 34 nationwide. Congratulations, Joyce! Her sister Kaylee missed the list by a whisker.
Nine-year old Siri Chennareddy of Decatur Classical School jumped from 94th place to 54th place over last month and her tournament performances have now earned her a well-deserved four-digit rating. Way to go, Siri!
In the group of eleven-year olds, Sruthi Bharath Kumar, Anisha Oberai and Alice Fan saw their ratings increase by a combined 210 points. Very good, young ladies!
Layla Rodriguez of Bateman has reached 1300 territory with her great performance at the National Junior High Championship. Well done!
Expert Shreya Mangalam has also crossed a significant milestone – 2100 to be specific – for a new high of 2121. What a nice birthday present! Shreya is the highest rated girl in Illinois, followed by Marissa Li (2059) and Miranda Liu (2026).
These lists are based on ratings achieved and processed by the third Wednesday of the prior month, in this case April 18, 2018.
