Rising Star trophies were awarded to rated US Chess newcomers: Ana Alvarez-Wyman, Garrett Cook, Emily Dossey, Taylor Gladden, Krishna Ravi and Bryn Zhao.
Special thanks to chess mavens/coaches John Klein, Daniel Wright, and David Neuman for their exceptional work on the floor and on the boards; and, to the many parents who assisted with set-up, score-keeping and awards presentation.
Our Lucky Squares Drawings: Heartfelt thanks to Dr Gs BrainWorks (superstore intelligentsia) for contributing gift certificates; Champaign Public Library for free book cards; and, US Chess for complimentary copies of Chess Life for Kids magazine. We sweetened the treasure with US Chess Gift Cards and Treasure Chess Presidential Dollar Coins. And so it went.
We’ve outgrown our space at the Champaign Public Library (thanks CPL for supporting our efforts) and are seeking a new venue for our next tournament. Will keep you posted!
