The US Chess Top 100 lists for October include 46 young ladies from Illinois with nine of them ranking in the top 20.

In the “Ages 7 and Under” group, Nandini Prakash and Hili Bareket improved their ratings over last month; the same is true for Linda Pham and Enkhjin Namuunbayar, who are a year older.

With her new rating of 1080, Linda secured herself a top-25 spot among the nation's 8-year old females.

The group of top 100 girls aged 9 shrank from five juniors last month to two this month as Nisha Salian moved on to the next age bracket. Nisha increased her rating while maintaining her #23
rank. Well done!

Natalie Wisniowski, who is also a strong online blitz player, increased her rating from 1537 to 1596, which makes her the 14th best 11-year old in the country this month. Her age-group peer Sruthi Bharath Kumar reached the 1200-milestone for the first time.

Sarah Lin (age 12) managed to add 78 points to her rating since the last compilation of these lists, earning her a spot in the upper half.

Layla Rodriguez (age 13) saw similar rating improvement from 1097 to 1175.

But by far the biggest jump was posted by Chicago’s Aria Hoesley, who went from 1723 in August to 1938 in September, mostly due to her third-place finish in the Atlantic Open's U2100 section. Out of this world, Aria!! The freshly-minted Class A player has now climbed to the #4 spot in the country for girls aged 13.

Congratulations are also in order for 16-year old Emma Wang, who crossed the 1900-threshold for the first time.

The lists are based on ratings achieved and processed by the third Wednesday of the prior month, in this case September 20, 2017.
