Summary: USCF Rated Classical Chess at the Chicago Chess Center

Location: 47 West Polk, Chicago, IL 60657

Sections:Open: 1600+, 1400+ can play up for $20. U1600: 1599-1000, 800+ can play up for $20. We recommend players under 1000 play in the Beginner's Open running on the same day.

Format:

Open: Three rounds; G/60, inc/30.

U1600: Four rounds; G/45, inc/15.

Schedule:

Open: Round 1 at 9:30 AM, Round 2 at 1:00 PM*, Round 3 at 4:30 PM* (* or 30 minutes after the last game ends, whichever is later).

U1600: Round 1 at 9:30 AM, Round 2 at 12:30 PM, Rounds 3-4 ASAP.

 Registration: $25 online by 1 week before; $35 one day before; $40 after that. Registration closes 15 minutes before the first round. Any players not registered before then will receive a round 1 bye. Affordability: If you are unable to afford the entry fee, please contact us.

FIDE-titled players automatically receive free entry.

Prizes:

Open: Trophies and free entry in a future event for first, second, and U2000.

U1600: Trophies and free entry in a future event for first, second, and U1200.

All children who score higher than 50% will receive a medal!

Transportation: We are right next to the Harrison Red Line, Lasalle Blue Line, and Harold Washington Library Loop stop. Additionally, we are 1 mile from Union Station and 1.3 miles from Ogilvie.
