On Wednesday, November 4, 2015, the world lost a wonderful person and our chess community lost a remarkable supporter of our sport.
Cynthia (Cindy) Berry, beloved wife of National Master Vince Berry -- and one of Illinois' top 50 players -- quietly passed on while her husband and close friends surrounded her in support and love.

Many will remember Cindy as an co-organizer of chess events with her husband back in the 1990's, as well as her role as a staunch supporter of her husband's chess activities. She was not a competitive player herself but her efforts were valuable contributions to our chess history and tradition. Together this remarkable couple had a great impact on many chess players and events.
She will be missed by all who were lucky to have known her.
