Single and Ready to Mingle? Players Seeking Teams for Feb 17-19 USAT North Are Contacting Organizers With Availability

With less than six weeks until the US Amateur Team North competition to be held in the northwest Chicago suburb of Schaumburg, registrations for both teams and individuals are starting to mount.

The February 17-19 event has two- and three-day options and will once again be hosted at the Hyatt Schaumburg.

Four person teams with one alternate can register until February 1 for a fee of $160. That calculates to $40 a person to play five rounds in a national event -- without even leaving the state of Illinois!

Individuals can still register for only $50 -- and then organizers will try to find a good match based on desired board number and the "Under" prizes or age-related awards for which a team might qualify.

The 2017 USAT North was competitively awarded to Chess Weekend by US Chess -- but as the event requires an annual bid -- retention of the event in Illinois requires healthy support from the state's chess community.

Last year's event attracted 70 teams -- whereas the "World Team" (held in New Jersey) has attracted over 300 teams in recent years.

Unfortunately this matching service is restricted to chess-related activity and romantic introductions are not a service currently offered.

Please provide your January rating supplement rating and desired board (1-4) along with your star sign, favorite movie and Meyers Briggs personality type. The last three won't help much on chess, but if we ever do expand to a full-fledged dating service, it may be helpful.

Through February 3 -- or until the allocation is depleted -- the host Hyatt Schaumburg is offering a secret chess rate of $89 for either Friday, Feb 17 or Feb 18. Given that it's President's Day-- why not make it a long weekend?
