Emole Wins South Suburban Chess Wars X

On January 24, 2016, the Glenwood Chess Club hosted Chess Wars X. A total of 28 players were in attendance.  
 
In the Open Division, Joe Emole took 1st place with 3.0/4.
 
Richard Zhang came in 2nd with 2.5 points. Eric Luster hammered out 3rd on tiebreak, while Ryan Richardson took 4th with 2.0. Sam Henderson nabbed 5th place with 1.5 points.
 
Ron Logan won the U1250 Division with a perfect 4-0 score. 
 
 
The “Great” Joseph Hooks, grabbed 2nd on tiebreaks with 3.0 points. Zach Warsh also with 3 points took 3rd. Megan Chen won 4th, with 3 points. 5th place with 2 points, went to James Marchert, Sr..
 
Eric Starkman was undefeated 4-0 to take first place in the U1650 Division. Kelvin Montgomery scored second with 3.0 points, only losing to Starkman. Diego Damis won third place with 2.5 points.
 
The article’s writer bribed his way to a fourth place tie break win with 2.0 and John Ruff took home the fifth place prize.
 
Vu Duong drove in from Indianapolis, IN to “check out” the competition. He scored a respectable 2.0/4 in the U1250 Division.
 
This tournament was a special event because it will be submitted to Chess Life with a request for its inclusion in an upcoming issue about the Glenwood Chess Club.
