Wallach and Bronfeyn Top December Caveman 4X3

Ken Wallach and Daniel Bronfeyn both compiled perfect 3-0 scores at the Caveman Ches tournament held December 19 in Park Ridge. 72 competed in three sections. US Chess Crosstables are available here.
Wallach's closest-rated opponent was 349 points lower (Joe Emole) while Bronfeyn's was 357 points less (Adam Bareket).
But lest you think that ratings disparities are insurmountable, Adam had upset organizer Kevin Bachler in the first round despite a 457-point differential.
20 competed in the section with Bachler, Emole, Jon Winick, Ryan Richardson and George McCoy all posting 2.0's.
In the 20-player Silver Section, Hyun Soo Kim was the lone perfect score, upping his rating 56 points to 1584.
Everado Gamino and Sean Insley were a half-point back at 2.5, drawing head to head in the final round. Gamino raised his rating 55 points to 1455 while Insley went up 139 points to 1427.
In the 32-player Bronze Section for players rated Under 1200, unrateds Hashaa Otgontulga and Ricky Passi, Jr. both were perfect in their premiere rated events, achieving ratings in the high 1400's.
Tom Segreto returned above 1200 after a three-month absence also with two wins and a bye.
A trio of Nich Allison, Devin Cuneen and Patrick Kui all posted 2.5's in their first US Chess events.
