Patel, Chen and Lal Win Sections at Kumbaya 85

With two wins and a draw, Aryoman Patel won the top section of the 85th Kumbaya conducted November 15 in Skokie. Six competed in the section.
56 players competed in three sections, organized by Chess-Ed and directed by Glenn Panner.
US Chess crosstables have been posted.
Nicholas Chen was the lone perfect score in the Under 1200 section, raising his rating to the cusp of 1200 at 1194. Nicholas defeated runners up Eli Elterman (round three) and Nevin O'Donnell (round four) who along with Aakash Sanjay all finished with 3.0/4.
20 competed in the middle section.
Anoushka Lal finished provisional play with a perfect 4.0/4 tally in the 30-player Under 700 section. Anoushka's rating is now 705 portending tougher competition may be in the future. Anouskha has enjoyed a 498-point rating increase from the last three such events. This was Anoushka's ninth rated event, all Kumbaya's since August of 2014.
Leo Kleban and Edison Sun tied for second place with 3.5 scores. Leo drew in the opening round while Edison grabbed a half-pointer in the second round.
Six players finished with 3.0/4 including Nathan Koo playing in his very first US Chess-rated tournament. Nathan's only blemish was a fourth round loss to Anoushka.
