September Chess Roundup

As the leaves start to change and the thoughts of vacations and summer fun slowly fade from memory, one thing we can still celebrate is all the labor going into tournaments. 354 people played in 12 rated tournaments across Illinois played during the month of August.  Below are all the highlights.

August 7: Lincoln Penny Challenge in Sycamore, IL brought out 36 players in this 4 section event. Crosstables.

August 11: Park Forest Chess Club sponsored this G/15 Quad tournament which had 4 people and Douglas Middleton going 5-1 in 6 rounds. Crosstable.

August 13: Midwest Camp Tournament had 23 players show up for this 2 section event in Peoria, IL. Crosstables.

August 13: New Lenox puts on a LWW tournament and have 16 players. Crosstable.

August 14: BNASC Summer Series 3 in Bloomington, IL had 22 players and two sections. Crosstables.

August 14: 68th Knights Quest in Northbrook, IL have 92 players and 4 sections. Aung Thant Zin has a perfect 4-0 in the open section. Crosstables.

August 19 - 21: 6th North American Amateur was held in Skokie, IL with 18 players and 2 sections. Crosstables.

August 21: 3rd Coast Challenge XIII in Northbrook, IL tournament had 5 sections and 48 players. ;Crosstables.

August 27: Southern Illinois Summer Open was held in Salem, IL with 14 players and 2 sections. Crosstables.

August 27: BSO2011 tournament in Peoria, IL had 30 players in this G/80 event. Nikhilesh Kumar Kunche, the lone master at the event, goes 4-0. Crosstable.

August 28: NSCC G45 tournament in Skokie, IL had 32 players. Crosstable.

August 31: Illowa August Swiss had 19 players in Moline, IL. The 5 round G/95 didn't favor the Illinois players this time. Crosstables.
